Start a YouTube channel

 

For creating a personal channel, follow these instructions so that only you can manage the channel using your Google Account:- 

  • Sign in to YouTube on a computer or the mobile site.
  • tap your profile picture
  • Create a channel.
  • You’ll be asked to create a channel.
  • Check the details with your Google Account name and photo and ‘confirm’ to create your channel.

 

For creating a channel with a business or other name that can have more than one manager or owner, follow these instructions:- 

  1. Sign in to YouTube on a computer or the mobile site.
  2. Go to ‘Your Channel List’.
  3. Choose to create a new channel or use an existing Brand Account:
    • Create a channel by taping Create a new channel. Create a YouTube channel for a Brand Account that you already manage by choosing the Brand Account from the list. If this Brand Account already has a channel, you can’t create a new one. When you select the Brand Account from the list, you’ll be switched over to that channel.
  4. Fill out the details to name your new channel. Then, tap Create. This will create a new Brand Account.

Verify your YouTube account

  • To verify your channel, you’ll be asked to enter a phone number. Google will send a verification code by text or voice call to that phone number.
  • Once you’ve verified your account, you can:
  1. Upload videos longer than 15 minutes
  2. Add custom thumbnails
  3. Live stream
  4. Appeal Content ID claims

Note: If you’ve already built sufficient channel history, verifying your YouTube account will also unlock advanced features.

 

Ways to make money in the YouTube Partner Program

You can make money on YouTube through the following features:

  • Advertising Revenue:- Earn revenue from Watch Page ads and Shorts Feed ads.

        Eligibility:– To earn ad revenue, you must be at least 18 years old, and you must create advertiser-friendly content. Basically, the less controversial your videos are, the more YouTube advertisers will be comfortable running ads on them, and the more money you will make.

  • Channel Memberships:- Your members make recurring monthly payments in exchange for special perks that you offer.

        Eligibility:- In order to sell channel memberships to your subscribers (i.e., your fans opt in to pay you an extra amount), you need to be at least 18 years of age and must have more than 30,000 subscribers.

  • Super Chats and Super Stickers:- Your fans pay to get their messages or animated images highlighted in chat streams.

       Eligibility:- If you want your fans to have the ability to pay to have their messages highlighted in your live chats during your live streams, you must be at least 18 years and be a resident of a country, where the feature is offered.

 

  • Super Thanks:- Your fans pay to get their message highlighted in your video’s comments section.

Eligibility:- You need to be 18 years of age.

  • Shopping:- Your fans can browse and buy products from your store on YouTube.

       Eligibility:- In order to sell merchandisers from YouTube’s merchandise shelf, you must be at least 18 years old, and have at least 10,000 subscribers.

 

  • YouTube Premium Revenue:- Get part of a YouTube Premium subscriber’s subscription fee when they watch your content.

    Eligibility:- If a YouTube Premium member watches your video, you get a portion of their subscription fee. This feature is automatic.

 

A successful campaign is a multi-platform affair. For this, license your most successful work to the media. Keep your contact details updated on your ‘About’ page. Even if you do not have a PR or Business Manager, do set up a generic email account that you can point to for business enquiries.
